What’s coming up for the North Main Association? Find out here!
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) and the City of Sheridan will begin the largest infrastructure project in Sheridan’s history later this year. The scope of the project begins with the relocation of the North I-90 interchange (moving it about 3⁄4 miles north of the existing interchange). The outcome of this combined with the largest land annexation in Sheridan’s history, will provide many opportunities for commercial and residential development as well as recreational enhancements and a beautiful
gateway into our community. Those enhancements already include the new Doubleday Sports Complex, Sheridan College’s 45,000 sf Arena & Large Animal Science Facility and North Park. We look forward to the Goose Creek Restoration and Naturalization Project, Gateway Park and extensions of the pathway system.
WYDOT is currently awaiting approval of their permit application from the Army Corp of Engineers. Once that approval is received, WYDOT will advertise for bids on the project and, hopefully, work will be underway this coming summer. The project will encompass North Main from Fort Road to the new interchange and is expected to take 3 years to complete. We will keep you apprised as things progress.
The High Tech Business Park has thirty developable acres available and recently received the only “site shovel ready” certification in the State of Wyoming. Sheridan is primed and ready for economic development which is especially important in these uncertain times for our energy and minerals industries.
On Saturday, June 11th from 8:30 to 1:00pm, NMA and the City of Sheridan will host the ‘Park to Park’ event, Participants can either walk, run or ride a bicycle from North Park to South Park and back again with food and entertainment along the way. Children and adults of all ages are welcome. This is a great way to showcase the pathway system and educate the public on all that’s coming to North Main.
We are also stepping up to host the ‘All Nation’s Pow Wow’ which will be held Wednesday, Thursday & Friday during Rodeo (July 13th, 14th, & 15th). There will be performances by different Native American tribes, along with storytelling, interpretive dancing and an arts and crafts show and sale. We’re fortunate to live in an area so rich in history and we’re glad to be part of bringing back our Native neighbors to join in the rodeo week festivities as was the way for past generations.
The North Main Association (NMA) is the proud host of the ‘Taste of Sheridan’ which will be held on Sunday, September 11th, from 1:00 to 5:00pm this year. It’s a great way for local restaurants to show off their specialties while participating in some good natured competition with fellow restaurateurs. It’s Sheridan’s biggest picnic – – a day of food, fun, music and good old neighborhood camaraderie. We’re hoping for at least fifteen restaurants this year so the selection will be great and the lines not so long. Hope to see you all there!
